Territorians are invited to apply for history grants for projects delivered next year.
Northern Territory Archives Service Acting Director Darlene Lion said Territory residents, societies and community organisations can apply for up to $7000, with a total funding pool of $60,000.
“The Northern Territory History Grants support and encourage research into Northern Territory history,” Ms Lion said.

Darwin Military Museum: $3,000 - Judgement in Darwin – Japanese War Criminal Trials in Darwin 1946
Don Christophersen: $4,650 - History of colonial settlement and industries of the Coburg Peninsular from 1827, an Indigenous perspective
Clive Hyde: $4000 – Yesterday’s News, a pictorial history of the Northern Territory as captured by the Northern Territory News
Jih Seymour: $3000 – The History of 104.1 FM Radio Darwin
Olga Radke: $2000 – Mission Block Stories continued – Alice Springs
“The Territory has a rich and vibrant culture and I urge anyone embarking on a Northern Territory history project within the next 12 months to apply for a 2016 History Grant,” Ms Lion said.
“Preference will be given to applications covering topics which have not been researched before or if the topic has been researched before, the application must propose a new approach.”
The scope of grants includes:
Funding to assist with printing expenses, development of audio and visual material, and web expenses
Travel and accommodation
Stationary and consumables
Incidental research fees
Copying charges
