Funding available to improve local communities

Department of Local Government, Housing and Community Development

$1.5 million in funding is now available for councils to improve community infrastructure and service delivery.

The Local Government Special Purpose Grants are open to local councils to improve community infrastructure and service delivery.

Funding is available to purchase capital items such as road plant and equipment, and deliver recreation facilities, training programs and social infrastructure.

The grants aim to assist local government bodies and communities to become stronger and self-sustaining with submissions required to show how the initiative will benefit the wider community.

Successful grants
that have been approved in previous years include:

·       upgrades for parks, sporting and recreational areas

·       staff housing on remote communities and general infrastructure renovations or upgrades

·       purchase of plant and equipment that will improve local government service delivery

·       assistance with infrastructure projects
