Northern Territory motorists can now order personalised number plates online.
The new online ordering system offers customers a quick, convenient way to complete personalised number plate requests through a single online transaction.
Personalised number plates are available for cars, trucks, private buses, trailers and motorcycles.
Personalised plates are a great way to add a fun and unique touch to your vehicle or can be used to promote your business.
The introduction of the personalised plates online ordering system will allow customers to easily:
search and check if plate characters are available
create, order and pay for unique number plates online
Around 40-50 personalised number plates are processed weekly by MVR.
To order personalised plates previously through MVR, customers completed a paper-based application form and returned it to MVR either by post, email or in person.
The Department of Transport is continuing to promote incentives to streamline doing MVR business.
To launch the new service, a ball lottery is being held over eight weeks where each week one lucky MVR customer, who has placed an order through MVR Plates online, will win back the purchase payment of their new personalised plates. The competition ends on 18 September.
Newlyweds Thomas and Katie Franklin were the lucky winners of MVR’s competition
draw 1.
“The online process was fast, easy to use, really convenient and saved time queuing
up. We felt we had won twice as our personalised plates order ITSACE was a wedding gift,” Mr Franklin
said.

The cost to purchase personalised number plates has not changed and remains at $185.
MVR’s commitment to new initiatives where business transactions are conducted via online portals/apps will continue to reduce MVR front counter visits and wait times for Territory motorists
