The School Survey is back and today marks the start of a three week period where parents, students and school staff can provide valuable feedback to their schools.
The annual survey allows schools to gain an understanding of parents, students and staff perceptions of the school as well as identify suggested areas where they may need to improve.
Deputy Chief Executive School Education Marion Guppy said “I want to encourage parents, students and school staff to be involved and complete the survey.”
“The ideas and feedback provide an excellent basis for schools to grow, plan and improve themselves in every way possible,” Ms Guppy said.
The survey – open from Monday 15 August to Friday 2 September 2016 – offers students, parents and school staff a chance to comment on school facilities, programs, how a school communicates as well as questions specifically tailored to each school.
Principal of Nightcliff Primary School, Graham Chadwick said “Last year, the survey results for Nightcliff Primary School indicated that we needed to improve on our communication with our international parents and students where English is their second language”.
“As a result, we have introduced the School Bag app which gives our international families 24-hour access to school information and updates including upcoming activities, newsletters and news bulletins in a variety of languages,” Mr Chadwick said.
The School Survey is an easy-to-complete application available online or in paper form.
Participants should contact their school to find out how they can access the survey, or visit the Department of Education website for more information.
