Territory writers and illustrators can now apply for a new residential fellowship to help them develop a new work in an inspirational and productive environment.
Located in the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains National Park, the Varuna Residential Fellowship (NT) is a partnership between Varuna, the National Writers House and the Northern Territory Government through Arts NT.
Arts NT director Angela Hill said four fellowships – two in the Top End and two in Central Australia – are available with funding of up to $3500 each.
“The Territory is home to some of Australia’s great writers and illustrators, most recently evidenced by last week’s Northern Territory Literary Awards,” Ms Hill said.
“The Varuna Residential Fellowship (NT) aims to support writers and illustrators at all levels of experience and across a wide range of writing practice to further their work without interruption, in a friendly and picturesque location.
“The Fellowship is one of several new initiatives of Vibrant NT, the Territory Government’s arts and culture policy launched earlier this year to increase access to professional development opportunities for Territory artists.
“Fellowship funding covers mentorship costs and reimbursement of travel expenses with residencies available between January and June 2017.
“Applications to the Varuna Residential Fellowship (NT) close on 30 August 2016 with more information and application forms available at www.varuna.com.au
