Circus Oz returns to the Araluen stage

After a three year hiatus, the sensational Circus Oz is returning to Alice Springs to present their brand new show TWENTYSIXTEEN at the Araluen Arts Centre on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 August.

Director of Araluen Cultural Precinct Mark Crees said the two hour show will bring high-voltage acrobatics and explosive aerial antics all accompanied by the sensational Circus Oz band.

“There is an incredible buzz of excitement in the air for the return of Circus Oz to Alice Springs. Their new show is full of the kind of energy that only Circus Oz with their 35 years of experience can deliver, having taken their particular blend of spectacle and wit to 27 countries across five continents,” Dr Crees said.

"Their remarkable rock-n-roll, animal free circus that adults and children can enjoy together has already received exceptional reviews from Australian Stage and ArtsHub and we can’t wait to share it with our audiences.”

TWENTYSIXTEEN is classic Circus Oz: absurd Australian larrikins pushing the boundaries of possibility and defying the laws of physics.

Guest Show Director Anni Davey said: “In the circus there is no editing, no replay button, no seven‐second delay, no CGI, no sequencing, no sampling, no trickery – it is just really great tricks.”

“The circus is real people doing extraordinary stuff. It’s inspiring to watch because it pushes people to question what is possible,” Ms Davey said.

“Our new show TWENTYSIXTEEN is straight up Circus Oz – it’s a show for everybody. It is cheeky, irreverent and hilarious.”

Circus Oz stays true to their grass roots creative process that delivers a surprising and inventive show created through the collaboration, experience and inspiration of the Circus Oz ensemble and artistic team.

The show, which is locally supported by the Chifley Alice Springs Resort, will be on stage at the Araluen Arts Centre, Friday 5 August at 7.30pm and Saturday 6 August at 1.30pm and 7.30pm.

Ticket prices are adults for $49.00, concession for $46.00 and Friends of the Araluen Arts Centre for $42.00.  There is also a family pass for two adults and two children available for $170.  All tickets are available from the Araluen Box Office on (08) 8951 1122.
