Araluen Arts Centre presents outstanding productions over two nights!

Two outstanding productions, Sugarland and Pearl: The Janis Joplin Show, will ‘wow’ Alice Springs over two big nights at the Araluen Arts Centre, on July 29 and July 30.

Araluen Cultural Precinct Director Mark Crees said he was excited for the popular Arts Centre to host the two productions after they both received rave reviews.

“Sugarland is coming to us direct from a sell-out Arts Centre Melbourne season and will be performing live on stage on Friday, July 29 at 8pm,” Dr Crees said.

Sugarland provides a glimpse into teenagers living in Australia and the pressures of trying to fit in. The production connects Katherine school girl, Nina, and the new girl, Erica, through their love of music and singing.

“Sugarland has been nominated for the 2016 Helpmann Award for Best Regional Touring Production and was a huge hit at the 2014 Darwin Festival, so we are confident the people of Alice Springs will thoroughly enjoy it,” Dr Crees said.

Pearl – The Janis Joplin Show will be live on stage at the Araluen Arts Centre on Saturday, July 30 at 8pm.

“This fantastic musical production pays homage to the obsessions and passions of an iconic woman, Janis Joplin, who exploded onto the music scene and quickly became the queen of rock ‘n’ roll and mother of thrift shop vintage funk,” Dr Crees said.

Pearl delivers in words and music Joplin’s outlook on life, love and being the first lady of rock, interwoven amongst 19 of her hit songs such as ‘Cry Baby,’ ‘Me and Bobby McGee’ and ‘Move Over.’

“The productions will have the audiences laughing, crying, singing and dancing. Only limited tickets are available - book now so you don’t miss out!”

Sugarland tickets prices are adults for $35.00, concession for $28.00 and Friends of the Araluen Arts Centre for $26.00.

Pearl – The Janis Joplin Show tickets prices are adults for $39.00, concession for $35.00 and Friends of the Araluen Arts Centre for $32.00.
