Get your kids involved in the Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife ‘My Outdoor School Holiday Challenge’ these school holidays.
The
challenge aims to encourage children to get
outside and learn about nature through a series of simple activities to be
completed during the mid-year break.
NT Parks and Wildlife Community Engagement
Officer Susie Armes said the school holidays were a fantastic time to get your
family outside and into the Territory’s beautiful parks and reserves.
“Following
the motto kids do better outside, we are encouraging families to take part in
our ‘My Outdoor School Holiday Challenge’ which encourages children to get
outside every day during the mid-year break,” she said.
“With
challenges such as looking for wildlife in your backyard, collecting different leaf
shapes, taking nature ‘selfies’ and visiting a local park, there is definitely
something for everyone to sink their teeth into
“You
can even compete with friends and family to see who can tick off the most
challenges in a row and each week we’ll update our Facebook page with outdoor
ideas and places to visit.” Ms Armes said.
“The
best memories are made outdoors and this school holidays it’s time to get
everyone outdoors and involved in the challenge.”
The
challenge will kick off on June 25, the first day of the school holidays with
30 simple activities to be completed before the end of the mid-year break.
Everyone
who finishes the challenge and provides evidence of finishing all 30 before the 1st of August will receive a limited edition sticker!
Those
who sign up will also receive a weekly enews with hints, tips, ideas and
reminders about events over the school break.
