As a result of an investigation that the Director-General of Licensing is undertaking into the Darwin Festival Association Incorporated, pursuant to section 93 of the Associations Act, the Director-General has decided to appoint a statutory manager to administer the affairs of the Association.

The Director-General has given written notice to the Darwin Festival Association Incorporated that pursuant section 78 of the Associations Act, Mr Hendri Mentz, Managing Partner of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Northern Territory has been appointed as the statutory manager. 

The appointment takes effect as at 12 noon today, 8 June 2016.

“Investigations undertaken to date into the Association have given me serious concerns as to the continuing financial viability of the association and most importantly its ability to pay all of its debts as and when they become due,” said Director-General of Licensing Cindy Bravos.

“I am satisfied that the appointment is in the interests of the Association’s members and creditors because of its financial position,” Cindy Bravos said.

The statutory manager will provide the Director-General a regular report showing how the administration of the Association is being carried out.
