Parks and Wildlife Commission of the Northern Territory

The Territory has some of the most beautiful parks in the country, and this tourist visitor season is the perfect time to head off the beaten track and see our parks come alive.

Parks and Wildlife Commission of the Northern Territory are again welcoming the successful program “Territory Parks Alive” as the visitor season returns for the year.

“It’s exciting to see the activities that Territory Parks Alive offers to both locals and visitors who are visiting our national parks from May to August,” Tourism and Visitor Engagement Interpretation Office Mid Merry said.

“The season kicks off in Central Australia in May; however Territory Parks Alive comes to life on June 1 up here in the Top End.

“Territory Parks Alive is a program of free guided walks, talks, slideshows, spotlight activities and cater for a variety of ages, fitness and interest levels.”

Some of the exciting activities available this year include:

  • Spending time with a ranger and discovering the secrets of the natural world on a guided walk or nocturnal spotlight activity.
  • The opportunity to enjoy a photographic journey of our diverse parks from your own camp chair during a campground slideshow.
  • Discovering fascinating insights into the life of a park ranger around a campfire.

These are just some of the immersive experiences you can have when you join a Territory Parks Alive activity in 2016.

Ms Merry said additional ‘one off’ Territory Parks Alive events were also offered throughout the year at various locations and were a memorable way to get out into nature, stay healthy and meet people in your community.

The school holidays are a great time to make use of the Territory Parks Alive program to visit your local national park or venture further afield to discover something new.
