It's your Library. We have listened to you.

The Northern Territory Library (NTL) is changing its opening hours to provide greater opportunities for people working full time to engage with the library.

Effective from 30 May 2016, the Library will now be closed on Mondays and will open late on Wednesdays until 8pm.

NTL Director Patrick Gregory said he was pleased with the decision to change the opening hours after an extensive community consultation revealed the public’s desire for a broader range of access, particularly opening on a weekday evening.

“We have listened to the public’s feedback and the new opening hours will provide a wider range of opportunities for the community, researchers and historians to work, and attend exhibitions and events,” Mr Gregory said.

“The NTL is developing some exciting new public programs, many of which will be run during our Wednesday night openings.

“The decision to close the Library on Mondays was made as Monday visitors are generally able to visit the Library on other week days.

“This closure will also enable library staff to undertake further important work in making collections available to the public, particularly online.

“We hope to see more people walking through the doors and enjoying everything the Library has to offer, particularly those who haven’t previously had the opportunity to visit,” Mr Gregory said.
