Tenders for more than $3 million in road safety improvement works in the Barkly Region have been advertised.

Projects include –

Ranken Road – Construction of concrete floodways on two sections of the road to provide improved access during the Wet season;

Ranken Road – Raising the level of the road in various low sections that are subject to flooding;

Calvert Road – Widen a 35 kilometre narrow section of the road to improve road safety, particularly for road trains and heavy vehicles;

Murray Downs Road - Raising the level of the road in various low sections that are subject to flooding.

Tenders for each of the projects will close in the next fortnight.

When contracts have been awarded for each project work is expected to commence by July 2016, and be completed prior to the Wet season.
