Amy Johnson Avenue / Stuart Highway intersection works complete

Motorists will benefit from the completion of upgrade works at Amy Johnson Avenue/Stuart Highway intersection.

Department of Transport Chief Executive Andrew Kirkman said the $572,000 project included an extension to the slip lane on Amy Johnson Avenue approach to Stuart Highway and upgrades to the existing traffic signals at the intersection.

“Constructed by local contractor DAC Enterprises, the project was undertaken to improve intersection movement of outbound vehicles turning left from Amy Johnson Avenue onto Stuart Highway by providing an extended left turn lane,” Mr Kirkman said.

These works are part of the Urban Arterial Traffic Management Program fully funded by the Northern Territory Government.

This program targets areas on the Northern Territory road network to improve road safety and capacity as well as improving traffic flow and mitigating traffic congestion.
