“The department is committed to helping grow our agriculture, forestry and fisheries industry from more than $1.3 billion per year to $2 billion per year by 2030.
“We’re doing this through a number of research, development and engagement projects across the Territory to support the sector.
“Part of our focus is on safeguarding the industry from biosecurity threats, and there are a number of programs underway at the moment to increase surveillance for and awareness of diseases like lumpy skin disease, Japanese encephalitis and African swine fever.
“Our staff will be on hand at the NTG stall at the NTCA conference to answer questions about our activities and biosecurity preparedness, and to distribute free livestock skin sampling kits to local producers and pastoralists.
“We are committed to increasing knowledge, identifying opportunities and brokering solutions for industry across the Territory. Through events like the NTCA conference, our team are working with industry to foster the capability and capacity of the sector to be profitable, resilient and sustainable.
“If you’re at the conference, please pop in and have a chat to our team.”

“The department is continuing to support the pastoral industry through ongoing scientific based land resource mapping and water assessment programs, underpinning sustainable grazing land management, non-pastoral uses and diversification.
“The department is continuing to progress its regulatory efficiency program aimed at streamlining and accelerating environmental and natural resource approvals.
“Delegates visiting the NTG stall are welcome to ask about the support we provide proponents when navigating environmental regulatory approvals for project development so they’re fully aware of processes and timeframes for individual projects.
"DEPWS is also happy to provide delegates with advice on weed management and rangeland monitoring to better protect the environment and maximise economic production on pastoral properties.
"The department is also upgrading several soil and land resource maps across the Territory which are freely available by calling DEPWS on 8999 4443."
