Darwin locals love their waterparks, and today the Leanyer Recreation Park will begin upgrades to ensure the venue’s fun atmosphere, safety and longevity remain for future generations.
The cascade pool, main pool and wet play features will be closed for the duration of the works, while the water slides will remain open at extended hours (10.00am-6.00pm every day).
YMCA will also bring in alternative activities to supplement the closure of other features; with a wet feature jumping castle, face painting and water tag all available at certain times during upgrades.
YMCA Chief Executive Officer Grant Fenton said the Leanyer Recreation Park upgrades would benefit the community and ensure the safety of their patrons.
“The Leanyer Recreation Park is one of the Territory’s favourite attractions with 150,000 people visiting each year,” he said.
“We are always looking to improve our facilities and the latest upgrades will ensure that the Leanyer Recreation Park remains safe, exciting and fun for everyone.
“We will work as quickly as possible to get these upgrades completed; in the meantime we hope our visitors will enjoy the water slides and the exciting new activities we will provide.”
