An upcoming series of information sessions from the Department of Business will provide up to date information on migration policies and visa options as an alternative for employers unable to fill vacancies.
General Manager for the Office of Asian Engagement, Trade & Investment, Jeff Stewart said the department was aware that some employers were struggling to fill vacancies.
“One of the challenges of low unemployment is that some industries in particular find it hard to recruit suitable staff locally,” he said. “Businesses are telling us it is difficult to find local staff to fill jobs.”
“The Australian Government’s skilled workers policies change from time to time and the visa initiatives in the Developing Northern Australia White Paper will affect NT businesses. Many employers are keen to learn about new developments.”
He said the information sessions would explore a range of topics relevant to NT employers.
“Employers will learn about the Department of Immigration and Border Protection’s monitoring of 457 visa sponsors, the Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA), Seasonal Worker Program and Developing Northern Australia changes to backpacker visas arrangements.”
