Territory enterprises and organisations will have the perfect opportunity to secure a future workforce as well as showcase their businesses and industries as part of the NT Government’s Skills Employment and Careers Expo.
A/Executive Director, Training NT Wendi Masters said registrations are now open for exhibitors to participant in the largest training, jobs and careers roadshow in the Northern Territory.
“The expo will visit all the major centres during August including Darwin, Alice Springs, Katherine Tennant Creek and Nhulunbuy and attract more than 5,000 attendees,” Ms Masters said.
“It is essentially a one-stop-shop for anyone seeking to explore tertiary studies, training, job and career options including middle school right through to post-graduate and mature age students as well as parents and the general public.
“It’s also the perfect opportunity for employers to engage with future employees, hand-pick the best talent for their positions and showcase what they have to offer.
“The expo is just one of the initiatives that support Territorians to train in areas of skill shortages through higher education and vocational education and training (VET) pathways. Many of these opportunities will be on display at the expo throughout all regions.”
Expo attendees will be able to:
- Talk to representatives from different employers, education institutions, training providers and industry groups.
- Hear from presenters in topical seminars.
- Experience hands-on skill oriented activities.
- Find out about current, real job vacancies available in the NT.
The Expos in Darwin and Alice Springs will feature a Jobs Board that will provide an additional opportunity for NT employers and recruitment agencies to promote their existing and knows future job vacancies in the NT for free.
Ms Masters said the Expo had been running in its current format and coordinated by the Department of Business since 2012. Prior to that, it had been delivered by the Department of Education as a smaller-scale event for school students only.
“This is no longer an event for only young people; there are opportunities for everybody on offer during the Territory-wide roadshow.”
