Palmerston Regional Hospital (PRH) Construction Update

Work on the $150 million Palmerston Regional Hospital (PRH) remains on track with the ground floor concrete slab now being laid.

The 116-bed facility is jointly funded by the Federal Government ($110 million) and the Northern Territory Government ($40 million) and will open its door to patients in 2018.

The operational floor space will be approximately 20,000m2.

Glen Brady, Project Director – Department of Infrastructure, said significant concrete work has already been completed in preparation for the massive slab.

“More than 277 concrete pad footings have been poured so far, and a further 220 concrete columns excavated, formed and poured,” he said.

“At the moment, there’s an average of 50 contractors on site each day, and during peak construction there will be 300 people working to build this facility.”

More than $19 million in work packages have been awarded to Territory businesses over the last few months.

Contracts include concrete supply, formwork, early works hydraulics and tower crane.

Local company, Ostojic Group Pty Ltd, has been awarded the contract for the Palmerston Regional Hospital (PRH) access road to the value of $7.5 million providing access and services in the area.

The upgrade of the Temple Terrace / Stuart Highway intersection has been completed and is open to traffic.
