School holiday fun at Botanic Gardens

Parks and Wildlife Commission of the Northern Territory

The George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens will again be hosting their extremely popular school holiday programs this break.

Kicking off on Wednesday April 6 and running for two days, the school holiday program is expected to be a huge hit for families.

George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens Visitor Services Officer Helen Panatos said the program of free activities would be running from 10am to 1pm both days and included great activities such as animal encounters, slip and slide water fun and fun in the parks.

“Stuart the Minion, Princess Elsa from Frozen, Healthy Harold and Hector the Road Safety Cat will all make appearances throughout the event,” she said.

“Kids will also have the chance to have some fun with boat races in the creek, wheelbarrow races, the jumping castle, rock climbing, waterslides, a range of sporting activities, arts and craft, face painting and many more activities.

"The two days are packed full of fun to keep the kids busy, while parents can relax and picnic in the Gardens or visit Eva's Café.”

Please note the main carpark will be closed - there are drop off zones for people with disabilities and vacation care groups. Geranium Street carpark, Gardens Road and Mindil Beach overflow carpark are available.

“These school holidays come down to the Botanic Gardens for an enjoyable place for the kids to play in a safe environment," she said.

All children must be supervised by an adult. The full program is available at //www.parksandwildlife.nt.gov.au/botanic
