Northern Territory Health has been a leader in the development and implementation of on-line health records for more than a decade, and with the support of the Commonwealth Department of Health, has now completed a three-year project to transition the Territory’s My Health Record to the national My Health Record system.
Northern Territory Health works closely with eHealth partners, the Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance Northern Territory and the Northern Territory PHN, to encourage participation in the My Health Record system.
“This week the eHealth partners will set up a stand in the foyer at the Alice Springs Hospital so Central Australian residents can register for a My Health Record,” said Sue Korner, Chief Operating Officer of the Central Australia Health Service.
“The stand at the hospital is a convenient way for people to learn about the My Health Record and register at the same time.”
Individuals and health care providers in the Northern Territory are urged to take full advantage of the national My Health Record system, which allows people’s health records to become portable.
People who have a My Health Record can agree to their record being viewed and shared by their healthcare providers, quite literally, at the push of a couple of buttons, no matter where they are in the Territory or Australia.
Around 35,000 of the Territory’s 240,000 people currently have a My Health Record.

The stand in the foyer at the Alice Springs Hospital will be open from 10am-4pm daily.
