The Araluen Arts Centre presents 4000 Miles, an award winning smash production from one of America’s brightest playwrights.
Director of the Araluen Arts Centre Dr Mark Crees is thrilled to have the production, which was named Time Magazine’s #1 Play or Musical in 2012, in Alice Springs.
“4000 Miles is a poignant family drama which explores the funny, frustrating, and ultimately life-changing relationship between a grandson learning to face his life and a grandmother who is starting to forget hers,” Dr Crees said.
As an overnight couch-surf turns into an extended stay, 4000 Miles unearths a surprising parallel between these two generations in this emotionally compelling drama. With disarming frankness and surprising candour, the two negotiate social potholes and trace emotional fault lines that link them to a painful family history.
“4000 Miles is brought to the stage by award winning director Anthony Skuse in this smash national touring production and is the winner of the 2012 Obie Award for Best New Play,” Dr Crees said.
“This compelling production is a ‘must see’ and I encourage everyone to come and see the play. It was shortlisted for the Pulitzer Prize. You won’t be disappointed.”
4000 Miles will be on stage at the Araluen Arts Centre on Friday 15 April at 8.00pm.
