Australians will be urged to ‘go to a better place’ and book a holiday to the Northern Territory with a new advertising blitz by the NT Government kicking off this week.
The successful ‘It’s About Time’ campaign, launched last year, will hit the airways across the country over the next month inspiring Aussies to visit the Territory in 2016.
The advertising blitz will use enticing sale fares to lure more visitors north in time for the upcoming tourist season.
“The ‘It’s About Time…Do the NT’ campaign has been a great success and was one of the Top 10 most viewed Australian YouTube ads during the September quarter last year,” said Tourism NT CEO, Tony Mayell.
“It’s really helped us stand out from the crowd and is a delivering great results with the latest figures showing domestic visitors to the Northern Territory jumping by 17 per cent.
“This latest blitz will keep the momentum going and ensure we have a strong tourism season this year, which will provide an important boost for tour operators and local businesses throughout the Northern Territory.”
The ‘It’s About Time’ commercial features ordinary people in their everyday lives reflecting on relatives and loved ones who have “Gone to a better place” before a humorous twist reveals the better place to be the Northern Territory.
“The new blitz will use the same ‘It’s About Time’ characters but with new footage promoting destination 'hot spots' across the Red Centre and Top End,” said Mr Mayell.
The refreshed commercials will go to air in metro and regional television stations across the country as well as paid TV. The campaign will also involve digital and social media ads as well as outdoor advertising at high foot traffic retail shopping centres in key markets such as Queensland.
The advertisements will promote a range of holiday specials and sale airfares with co-operative partners such as Virgin, Qantas, Territory Discoveries, Sunlover Holidays and Flight Centre.
The ‘It’s About Time’ campaign blitz is Tourism NT’s first major campaign for 2016 and will run for four weeks from 25 January until 28 February.
This initiative is part of the NT Government’s plan to drive the development of North Australia and build a $2.2 billion visitor economy by 2020.
