The Territory Wildlife Park (TWP) invites artists to submit proposals for 2016 Artists-in-the-Park program.
Jasmine Jan, Artistic/Narrative Co-ordinator, Territory Wildlife Park said the Artists-in-the-Park (AiP) program has been running since 2011.
“Since this successful program started TWP has had a diverse array of artists who have participated in the program from sculptors, textile artists, en plein air artists, wildlife artists, photographers, digital media artists, dancer/choreographers, writers and even a shoe designer,” said Ms Jan.
“The AiP program is designed to give artists opportunities to access the TWP’s amazing collection of flora, fauna and naturalistic style exhibits. Artists are provided with a 12 month Territorian Pass and behind the scenes access to animals, exhibits and staff.
“The program gives artists the chance to interact with and tap into the knowledge and experience of our highly skilled zookeepers and guides.
“Artists are able to interact with TWP Visitors and showcase their arts practice or even get staff and visitors to participate in workshops or community arts projects.” Ms Jan said.
The AiP program is open to a range of creative practices and platforms e.g. sculpture, painting & drawing, textiles and fibre, jewellery, photography, dance, theatre, text (writers and poets), new and mixed media. Up to eight artists will be selected through the program.
Artists must be 18 years or over. Emerging and indigenous artists are encouraged to apply.
Applications close on Friday 19 February 2016.
The Territory Wildlife Park is one of the Territory’s premier tourist attractions. It is home to woodland, wetlands and monsoon vine forest settings that help protect and nurture a diverse range of native plant and animal species both in the wild and in captivity.
