Nominations for the Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards are now open with 12 award categories available for 2016.
Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, Dr Robyn Aitken, this year announced a new award category in the field of Alcohol and Other Drugs.
“A record 300 nominations were received for the 2015 Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards.
We are hoping to build on this success by including an additional category to recognise the commitment to best practice in the speciality field of Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Nursing,” Dr Aitken said.
Territorians have until 29 February 2016 to nominate nurses and midwives who have shown exceptional practice in patient care.
Award recipients will be announced at a gala dinner on 7 May 2016, coinciding with celebrations for the International Midwives Day and International Nurses week.
The 2016 Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Award categories are:
· Aged, Disability & Residential
· Community Health
· Education, Research and Innovation
· Enrolled Nurse of the year
· 1st Year Graduate Nurse or Midwife
· Hospital Care
· Leadership
· Lifetime Achievement
· Mental Health
· Midwifery
· Remote Health
· Alcohol and Other Drugs (NEW)
All nurses and midwives registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and employed in the NT are eligible for nomination for the Excellence Awards.
Nurses and Midwives previously registered in the NT are eligible for nomination for the Administrators’ Medal for Lifetime Achievement.
