Do you have something to say about the first stage of the planning process for Darwin Mid Suburbs and Litchfield municipality?
Feedback closes on 30 November 2015 for discussion papers for Darwin Mid Suburbs Area Plan and Litchfield Subregional Land Use Plan, said Planning Commission Chairman, Gary Nairn.
“We have had an excellent response so far to our Mid Suburbs and Litchfield consultations, with lively discussions at shopping centres and market stalls and at information sessions for community and stakeholders,” Mr Nairn said.
“We have spent a lot of time briefing community leaders, local government and industry groups.
“For Mid Suburbs we sent letters to every home and also wrote to the 4920 property owners in the area. We spoke with indigenous representatives and community members and took our information stand to the foreshore to chat with cyclists and walkers, giving everyone the chance to be heard.
“For Litchfield, we wrote to more than 7000 residents and conducted focus groups and phone surveys. We spoke at length with around 800 people to explain the process and hear their feedback and we held a workshop in Howard Springs with nearly 90 residents and business owners to discuss issues associated with growth in and around rural activity centres.
“We know Darwin people care a lot about their homes, whether they live in city areas or enjoy a rural lifestyle.
“Submissions and feedback will be used to develop draft plans which we will bring back to the community for further consultation,” Mr Nairn said.
The Darwin Mid Suburbs Area Plans Discussion Paper covers Ludmilla, Coconut Grove, Nightcliff, Rapid Creek and Millner. The Litchfield Subregional Land Use Plan Consultation Paper covers the Litchfield municipality.
