Help us plan for the future in Darwin’s Mid Suburbs

Northern Territory Planning Commission (NTPC)

The Planning Commission has released a discussion paper today that seeks community feedback upfront to help shape the future of Darwin’s Mid Suburbs.

The Darwin Mid Suburbs Area Plans Discussion Paper covers Ludmilla, Coconut Grove, Nightcliff, Rapid Creek and Millner, said Planning Commission Chairman Gary Nairn.

“It explains how area plans are developed and provides information about future needs such as residential options, community spaces, transport networks, commercial centres and essential infrastructure and services,” Mr Nairn said.

“Recently we consulted with residents and property owners of Darwin’s Inner Suburbs as a first step in preparing area plans, receiving valuable feedback that is helping to draft area plans for those suburbs.

“The consultation process in Darwin’s Mid Suburbs will provide opportunities for people to learn more about the planning process and provide their feedback.

“We need to start planning now to balance population growth with the lifestyle aspirations of the community.

“Come and say hello to us in October at stalls at local markets, Nightcliff Shopping Centre and the Foreshore. The details are on our website.

“We look forward to receiving your comments, which we will use to develop the draft area plans and then come back to you for further consultation,” Mr Nairn said.
