Got something to say about future land use in the Alice Springs region? The Northern Territory Planning Commission wants to hear from you.
Planning Commission chairman Gary Nairn today launched a discussion paper seeking community feedback for the development of the draft Alice Springs Regional Land Use Plan.
“The regional land use plan is a strategic planning policy document covering Alice Springs and surrounding areas, including Brewer Estate, land adjacent to the airport and Amoonguna,” Mr Nairn said.
“We need feedback from the community – residents, landowners, business, all the stakeholders – to make sure the draft plan reflects the values and aspirations of the community.”
“This discussion paper is part of the consultation process and will assist people to provide input for development of the draft land use plan.
“Planning for the future is important to make sure that infrastructure and services keep pace with the changing needs of a growing community.
“Key issues for this draft plan are regional transport, essential resources and services and land for residential, industrial, commercial and community purposes.
“Consulting with all groups in the community means that everyone can have their say about the places where they live, work and socialise.
“We look forward to receiving your comments, which we will use to develop the draft plan and then come back to you later this year for further consultation,” Mr Nairn said.
