Award winning Australian pianist at Araluen Arts Centre

Award winning young Australian pianist Alex Raineri will present a solo piano recital of well-loved masterworks and exciting contemporary repertoire at the Araluen Arts Centre.

“Featuring pieces such as Ludwig van Beethoven’s famous ‘Moonlight’ Sonata, the concert also includes works by Johannes Brahms, Franz Liszt, Beat Furrer and a newly commissioned work for piano and electronics by talented young Melbourne composer Luke Paulding,” said Marion MacLean, Acting Director of Araluen Arts Centre.

“An active recitalist, chamber musician and concerto soloist, Alex's performance experience includes tours of California, South-East Asia, Germany and a vast amount of engagements in Australia including several broadcasts on ABC Classic FM and the MBS Networks.

“Alex won first place in the 2014 Australian National Piano Award, as well as first place in the 2014 Kerikeri International Piano Competition.”

Alex is the pianist and co-artistic director of the Brisbane contemporary music ensemble Kupka’s Piano. The group recently performed at the International Summer Courses for New Music in Darmstadt (Germany) where Alex was awarded a prestigious Kranichstein ‘Stipendium’ Musikpries.

Alex graduated in 2013 with First Class Honours in a Bachelor of Music in Advanced Performance at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and is currently undertaking a Master of Music Research from the Australian National Academy of Music.

On stage at the Araluen Arts Centre, Thursday 24 September at 8pm.

Ticket prices are adults for $39, concession for $35 and Friends of the Araluen Arts Centre for $32 and are available from the Araluen Box Office on (08) 8951 1122.
