Araluen Arts Centre first ever cabaret festival ‘Cabaret Nights’!

The Araluen Arts Centre presents its first ever cabaret festival, Cabaret Nights, under lights in August.

“Defiant, thoughtful, autobiographical and breaking musical stereotypes - the productions making up Cabaret Nights 2015 will take audiences on a journey of inspired and insightful encounters - revealing their deepest perspectives and thoughts, to entertain, inspire, make us laugh and leave us breathless,” said Tim Rollason, Director of Araluen Arts Centre.

“Cabaret Nights 2015 will feature national performers who have previously participated in major festivals and events around Australia.

“Cabaret Nights kicks off on Thursday, 20 August, with Geraldine Quinn presenting MDMA: Modern Day Maiden Aunt.

“This is a glittering celebration of modern aunthood, not breeding and the fine art of embarrassing other people’s children.

“Friday, 21 August, sees Olympic diving champion turned cabaret star, Matthew Mitcham presenting Twists and Turns.

“This is a highly personal tale of being plagued by anxiety, depression, winning the 2008 gold medal and competing as one of a few openly gay Olympians.

“The Festival concludes on Saturday, 22 August, with The Cowgirl and The Showgirl.

“A journey of intertwining genres between the golden girl of country, Beccy Cole, and critically acclaimed Cabaret and Jazz performer, Libby O’Donovan.”

Cabaret Nights will be on stage at the Araluen Arts Centre, Thursday 20 – Saturday 22 August at 8pm each night.

Tickets are available to each individual show at $45 for adults, $40 for concession and $35 for Friends of Araluen Arts Centre members. All tickets are available from the Araluen Box Office on 8951 1122.

Alice Springs is invited to join in on opening night with Araluen Foyer being transformed into the hottest cabaret nightspot in town.

There will be easy listening jazz entertainment, and complimentary canapés provided by the Chifley Alice Springs Resorts from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

The event is proudly supported by Chifley Alice Springs Resort, a 2015 partner of the Araluen Arts Centre.
