BUSHFIRES NT MESSAGE: ADVICE #3

LOCATION: Maryvale Road, MOUNT OORAMINNA

ALERT LEVEL: Advice - A fire is going in the area. Monitor the situation for changes.

FIRE TYPE: Bushfire. INFORMATION CURRENT AS AT: 03/11/2023 10:00 hours.

STATUS: GOING - A fire which is spreading on one or more fronts. Effective containment strategies are not in place for the entire perimeter.

RISKS FACED BY PEOPLE IN THE AREA: Smoke from this fire may affect visibility. Active fire may occur close to the roadside. Firefighting crews may be working close to the roadside.

WHAT TO DO: Conditions may change, monitor conditions in your area. Stay informed until threat is reduced.

ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC: Crews are responding to a fire on the Stuart Highway, near Mount Ooraminna south of Alice Springs. Maryvale Road is currently being impacted by smoke and active fire on both sides of the road. Avoid the area.

Stuart Highway, south of Alice Springs and High River Road are being impacted by bushfire smoke. Please drive with care. Tjoritja / West MacDonnell National Park have closed campgrounds at Glen Helen Gorge, Glen Helen Walk, Finkle River 2 Mile. Ormiston Gorge, Ghost Gum lookout and walk, Larapinta Train (Section 10). Closures will remain in place until Monday 6 November. Redbank Gorge and Ormiston Gorge Access Roads are closed. Rainbow Valley Conservation Reserve is closed due to bushfire activity. Rainbow Valley Conservation Reserve camp sites are closed for bookings until 10 November 2023. Rainbow Valley Access Road may be subject to closure.

Please follow all directions of emergency service workers.

For the safety of firefighting crews and other vehicles, drivers in the area are urged to slow down, turn on headlights and drive safely for the conditions. For further information regarding bushfires, visit Fire Incident Map.
