Pesona Indonesia – Saturday 1 August 2015

Darwin Waterfront Corporation

The Darwin Waterfront will be transformed into an Indonesian extravaganza this Saturday, 1 August 2015, from 4pm to 8.30pm.

The free festival will showcase Darwin’s rich and vibrant Indonesian culture through music, performances and delicious food.

“The word ‘pesona’ means ‘enchanting’ in Indonesian and this event will be sure meet its description,” Frits Momuat, President of Persatuan Indonesia Darwin said.

“The event gives Darwin locals the opportunity to gain a better understanding of their closest overseas neighbour.”

“Although Darwin’s Indonesian community is smaller compared to other cultural groups in Darwin, we are extremely active and proud to showcase our customs and traditions.”

Patrons can indulge in Indonesian cuisine including authentic rice and noodle dishes, laksa, soups, curries, rendang, satays, gado gado, spring rolls and even a selection of Indonesian desserts.

There will be a range of entertainment from all ages and styles including orchestral, dance, live bands, a fashion parade and much more.

This is the second year Pesona Indonesia will be held at the Darwin Waterfront and celebrated as an independent event.
