Faye Alexander first solo exhibition at Araluen Arts Centre

Alice Springs artist Faye Alexander exhibits her delicate and elegant sculptural works at Araluen Arts Centre this July.

“Aftermath is the first solo exhibition at the Araluen Arts Centre by this well-known and respected Alice Springs artist,” Director of the Araluen Arts Centre, Mr Tim Rollason said.

“This series of sculptural works are created from discarded objects found by Faye Alexander within Central Australia and whilst traveling internationally.

Objects such as keys, jewellery, rusting wire and metal fragments are used.

“Waste and energy use are themes found in the Aftermath exhibition

Faye Alexander was a practicing ceramicist with 30 years’ experience, teaching the art form and exhibiting extensively.

“Aware of the cumulative energy used during her ceramics career, Alexander turned to sculpture, using only found materials, and a form of art making that involved no energy other than that of her body.”

The exhibition will open in the Sitzler Gallery, Araluen Arts Centre, from 6pm on Friday 10 July and will continue until Sunday 16 August.

Faye Alexander will deliver an Artist talk at 11.30am on Saturday 11 July.
