As a result of the police investigation into Latitude Travel, the Northern Territory Government is launching a review into public sector travel processes and systems and the use of travel management company services.
The review will investigate how the Northern Territory Public Service procures travel to guarantee the Territory Government is receiving best value for travel expenditure and to ensure that taxpayer money is spent appropriately.
The NT Government takes seriously any undermining of the Territory’s procurement process which could have far-reaching implications for Territory business and how the Territory is perceived.
The NT Government will not turn a blind eye to unethical behaviour or stand by while illegitimate activities take place.
The Government will stringently examine review recommendations for change within the NTPS in respect to public sector travel processes and enhance general training of staff relating to conflicts of interest.
In 2014, Government implemented a central travel booking across-government service.
