The Northern Territory’s partnership with Australia’s largest and most influential women’s network, Business Chicks, has reaped quick rewards with Uluru and Voyages Resort chosen to host the organisation’s first ever conference.
The inaugural conference called: ‘Movers and Breakers’ will be hosted at Ayers Rock Resort’s Uluru Meeting Place from 6-9 August 2015.
Tourism CEO, Tony Mayell, said the major conference is expected to see 100 delegates travel to Uluru, injecting more than $400,000 into the local economy over three days.
“This is a significant coup for the Territory, with Central Australia and the iconic Uluru to be showcased to this elite group of business people,” said Mr Mayell.
“Business Chicks is the largest female focused business-networking group in Australia, with more than 35,000 current members that are recognised as influential decision makers.
“It’s hoped this major conference will help generate further business leads and increase awareness of the Territory as a unique business events destination.”
The inaugural Business Chicks conference will feature several guest speakers including CEO of Delottie Digital, Peter Williams, Australian-Swedish futurist and innovation strategist, Anders Sorman-Nilsson, best-selling business and leadership author Margie Warrell, digital trend spotter Chris Riddell and entrepreneur Creel Price.
Business Chicks CEO, Emma Isaacs, said the organisation was delighted to bring the event to the Northern Territory.
“We are so excited that we’re heading to the outback for our inaugural Business Chicks conference. Uluru is one of the most magical places on earth and we can’t wait for this event,” she said.
Tourism NT, through the NT Convention Bureau, entered a 12 month partnership with Business Chicks in March this year. The agreement includes targeted exposure to the group’s membership via promotion of the NT at events, database communications, branding, advertising and signage and digital activity.
The business events sector contributed an estimated $89 million to the NT economy in 2013-14.
Tourism NT’s partnership with Business Chicks aims to target this lucrative market in order to help grow the Territory’s visitor economy to $2.2 billion by 2020.
