Screen Territory would like to congratulate emerging documentary producer Emma Masters, who has been awarded the Access Initiative at the recent Net-Work Play conference.
Screen Territory Acting Director, Meredith
Garlick said Ms Masters is an emerging Darwin based producer and her success highlights
the home grown talents of the Territory.
“Ms Masters has recently been developing and
producing arts, history and wildlife factual programs and to be chosen for the
prestigious Access internship is an endorsement of her career so far,” Ms Garlick
said.
“Access is Australia’s leading kickstarter
program for emerging factual content creators and is designed to accelerate
careers in creative content development through a targeted producer mentorship
program.
“Through this program, Emma will take a four
week paid internship with Endemol Australia in Sydney beginning this September.
“In November 2014, Territory journalist
Kristy O’Brien was awarded the Ones to Watch Internship from 60 entrants in the
Screen Producers Australia national competition at the Screen Forever
conference.
“Ms O’Brien will take up a four month
position with the documentary production company WildBear this month in Sydney.
“Known to most Territorians from her
reporting work on Landline and ABC News NT, Ms O’Brien will be producing
several major projects, including two Territory based documentaries.
“Both Ms Masters and Ms O’Brien were
supported to attend the Net-Work Play and Screen Forever conferences
respectively through Screen Territory’s grants program.
“Access to markets, both national and
international, is especially vital for regional producers and play an important
part in the development of their careers.
“It is rewarding to see these two rising
producers embrace the challenging atmosphere of a market and emerge with such
high endorsements.”
