This Sunday, Nightcliff Football Club will race 2000 little rubber ducks at Darwin Waterfront’s Wave Lagoon in an effort to raise money for the Rotary Club Darwin Sunrise.
One little rubber duck will make a lucky punter $4000 richer. The second duck will pay $1000 and the third duck $500. There is also $100 up for grabs for the winner of each of the three heats.
The first race will commence at 6.15pm with all the action expected to be over by 7pm. The fun will continue after the race at The Precinct Tavern.
“It’s a great way to spend an afternoon, 2000 floating rubber ducks racing in the Wave Lagoon isn’t something you see every day,” Sandy Kickett, Nightcliff Football Club Development Manager said.
“People can have a little punt, and know that the money is going back to local community groups – which makes everyone a winner.”
“You don’t have to be there on the day to collect your prize. We will contact all winners who are not there the next day to notify them of their new small fortune.”
“Ducks are selling fast, so I encourage anyone who wants a duck to call Nightcliff Football Club before Sunday or come down early on the day.”
Ducks are $12 each, and $2 from every duck sold will be donated to Rotary Club Darwin Sunrise.
To purchase a duck, come along on the day or contact Nightcliff Football Club on 8985 6636 or email tigersfc@bigpond.net.au
