Exciting opportunities for Territory screen writers

Screen Territory, with the support of Screen Australia, is offering Territory screen writers two exciting opportunities to develop low budget feature films, Low Means Low and IGLOW.

Low Means Low is a two-day script development master class, open to Territorians with an interest in writing feature films, being held in Darwin on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 February.

IGLOW is an intensive low budget feature film initiative taking place across two workshops.

Workshop One is being held from Monday 13 to Friday 15 April and Workshop Two is being held from Tuesday 23 to Wednesday 24 June.

Screen Territory Program Manager Kira Tapps said Screen Territory will again be working with acclaimed international story consultant Stephen Cleary.

“Mr Cleary has over 20 years experience as a feature film developer and producer, and has been working with Screen Territory since 2007.

Low Means Low and IGLOW build on Screen Territory’s previous feature film development initiatives and provide Territory screen writers with further chances to develop their skills in the area of low budget filmmaking,” Ms Tapps said.

Low Means Low will provide Territorians with an interest in low budget filmmaking with an overview of low budget filmmaking from its history, to genres, techniques, and directing and producing, as well as information on writing a low budget film, including specific techniques.

IGLOW will run in the manner of a studio, with writing take place during and after Workshop One.

“Up to six projects will be developed through IGLOW.

“Participants in IGLOW will receive a $5000 development grant to assist them in developing their project.”

Registrations for Low Means Low close Friday 6 February and applications for IGLOW close Friday 20 February.
