Australia Day Fun Run

Darwin Waterfront Corporation

Kick off your Australia Day celebrations with the annual Australia Day Fun Run on Monday 26 January 2015 at the Darwin Waterfront. Registrations open from 6am with the run at 7am.

The fun run starts at the Darwin Convention Centre and finishes in the Darwin Waterfront parklands.

The event is an initiative of the Australia Day Council NT, a community based, not for profit organisation.  The Australia Day Council NT works to inspire national pride and spirit to enrich the lives of Territorians.

“You can run, walk or roll your way through the 2.5km or 5km track options,” Kiya Gill, Executive Director Australia Day Council said.

“The fun run is suitable for everyone, from those who want to sprint to the finish line or for others who just want to get dressed up and get into the spirit of the Australia Day festivities.”

“Australia really is the lucky country, and Australia Day gives us all the opportunity to celebrate what makes us great and what it means to be part of this wonderful country.”

This year there will be a special guest appearance from the Australia Day NT Ambassador and Winter Olympian Hannah Campbell-Pegg.

Everyone that registers goes into the draw to win a pearl pendant from Creative Jewellers valued at $1,280. There’ll also be prizes for best dressed and the first male and female runners to cross the finish line.

At the end of the race there will be a free sausage sizzle, balloon twisting, face painting and water activities.
