Opportunity to comment: Review of the Code of Practice for Responsible Gambling

The Northern Territory Government has initiated the review of the Code of Practice for Responsible Gambling and drafted a specific code for online gambling.

The current code was established many years ago when online gambling was in its infancy. With the growth of online gambling, a review of the code is considered a necessity and a specific code drafted for online gambling.

The gambling industry has evolved considerably and is currently undergoing significant change as a result of legislative reforms. The draft code sets out certain practices to be adopted by online gambling providers so as to minimise the risk of harm to consumers that may be affected by such gambling.

The review will seek to bring the code in line with current government, industry and community priorities and practices. The Northern Territory Government will invite the public to comment on the new draft code on www.racingcommission.nt.gov.au

Comments received by 31 January 2015 will be considered by Licensing, Regulation and Alcohol Strategy before finalising the code.
