NT COVID-19 update

The Northern Territory has recorded 12 new cases of COVID-19 since our last update.

Two new cases are linked to the NT outbreak. This brings the total case count for the cluster to 146.

The two cases are household contacts of previous cases in the Tennant Creek area. They were not infectious in the community and are in quarantine.

The other 10 new cases include:

· One case who is a close contact of the workers from Yulara who acquired their infection in Queensland. They were not infectious in the community and are in quarantine at the Centre for National Resilience.

· Five cases in interstate arrivals. They are all in isolation at home or at the Centre for National Resilience.

· Three cases who are close contacts of interstate arrivals.

· One case in Darwin with the source of infection under investigation.

There are currently 15 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including one in ICU. The majority of admissions are for the purposes of infection control and assessment.

1,788 COVID-19 tests were processed across the NT yesterday.

It is important all Territorians and visitors get tested for COVID-19 if showing any symptoms such as a cough, fever, shortness of breath, muscle aches, change in taste or smell and a sore throat.

The Nhulunbuy community is encouraged to get tested for COVID-19 following positive wastewater results.

COVID-19 testing sites are open in Nhulunbuy, Katherine, Tennant Creek, and Alice Springs. Testing is also available at NT Health clinics in remote communities.
